The panel for this year’s Award was Sara Tupper, Dominic Riley (President of SOB) and Mary Asiedu (Scotland Regional Rep and Trustee).

We received four strong applications this year and after much discussion it was decided that:

The Maureen Duke Educational Award 2021 be awarded to Susie Wilson.

Susie Wilson has a BA (Hons) and Postgraduate in Drawing and Printmaking and for the past twenty years the book form has been central to her practice.  She has won several awards for her book works and recently was invited Artist in Residence at Edinburgh College of Art Library, curating an exhibition from their collection of artist books as well as making a site-specific book that spanned five floors.

Susie teaches for the Centre for Open Learning at Edinburgh University, City of Edinburgh Council, Leith School of Art and schools and community groups in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland.

She is a member of the collective, bound:unbound, a group of artists who regularly exhibit together and show work at artist book fairs. She has exhibited widely, most recently in an artist book exhibition, ‘Re:connections’ at Upright Gallery in Edinburgh.

Her books and prints are held in the collections of the National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh College of Art Library, Edinburgh Central Art and Design Library, City Arts Centre, Glasgow Museums and Art Galleries, Art in Healthcare, the Baltic, University of Kent and Baroda Print Studio.
