About the event
Mylyn hopes to uncover some of the mystery of the Secret Belgium Binding with a step by step demonstration of this interesting structure. This forgotten technique that dates back to 17th century was rediscovered in the 1980s and has become a very popular binding in recent times with its stunning decorative stitching, adhesive free structure and ‘Jacobs ladder’ effect covers.
Mylyn has been working as a professional bookbinder for over 15 years. She has twice been awarded prizes for her design bindings. An active member in the bookbinding community she is currently  co-editor of the Society’s London and South newsletter and assisting in the organisation of the Society of Bookbinders International Competition. She works from her small home studio in Wiltshire and teaches the craft at a variety of venues and online. Mylyn is Principal Tutor for Bound by Veteran, a charity providing rehabilitation and respite to military veterans and family.
She loves books, loves binding and loves sharing her skills and joy of the craft.
